When my best friend got married, I threw her a fabulous shower that was exactly what I knew she would want but I didn't breathe a word to her. I think it was the first time in her entire life that she was actually surprised.
The friend in this was me. My friends really did a great job and completely surprised me.

She also did a fabulous job of running interference between Hec and me and my crazier relatives, whisking them away and out of sight before they had a chance to make anyone cry. And did my hair, kept me from being intimidated to death by the fearfully perfect High Society side of the family, and gave the best toast ever. If bridesmaid were an actual profession, she'd be running a business empire by now.
