To commemorate a past event, you kill and eat an animal. It's a ritual sacrifice, with pie.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Dutch process cocoa info: including both instructions for substituting regular for dutch, and a warning not to do so. Contradictory buggers.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

It occurs to me I should see if we have any decent baking supply stores in Seattle. I bet we've got at least one.

Nesting for some people involves cleaning. For me, it appears to be the search for the perfect cupcake.

(And the orange buttercream was just as good on the cupcakes as it was on the beater. I have leftover buttercream, so today I have to think up a use for it that's slightly more rational than just spooning it into my mouth.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Um, why?

In reply to dcp and ita, who both commented on my CD dilemma (but may not see this):

dcp, sounds like I could do that; unfortunately, I don't think I have such a cable, though I'll see if a Somervillain might (ah, who am I kidding. What I mean is, I'll ask Jon B.). ita, it was not Sony BMG, but Centaur, which looks to be a fairly small label with mainly gay acts -- including Boy George!

Actually, that Sony BMG article you linked to implies that their CDs would be readable by iTunes, so that would be a better deal for me! This CD actually uses Macrovision's CDS.

Um, why?

Too much sugar makes Princess Ticky Box hyper, and she'll go all ita on my ribcage.

Also, my stomach is squished enough at the moment that eating it really would ruin my supper.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I now have a craving for lemon buttercream. But also chocolate ganache. And lemon bars.

Life is hard.

I am vehemently against the copy protection CDs. I respect the publisher's right to use protection, but I think they should be clearly labelled, so I have the right to know before buying.

Watching Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. Not grabbed. Partially, I think, because I didn't realise I'd have to pay so much attention so early on.

Lee, I have to say I vote for hardwood floors before wood beam ceilings. Because you get to walk on them.

Why are so many LA apartments carpeted? I always though of carpeting as a cold-weather thing.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Okay, I guess you get a pass on that one, Ple. But once madam Ticky Box makes her appearance, no more of that "rational" crazy talk.

I think so too, ita. I emailed the contact person for the last apartment I linked to.

Totally with you. I still feel like I've been kind of bamboozled.

But in the past couple days I've gotten two more CDs, so it's no longer burning away at me. And I've heard a rumor that maybe Macs can see through the copy protection, so I'm gonna see if someone's willing to try it for me.
