It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Sombre, but what else is new. For Teppy's Lost and found challenge:

Maybe

You're around here somewhere. I know it.

Maybe in those journals? The ones where I pray for your return and pretend I hated you? Those. Damn - no, not in there.

Maybe in those dreams I've had for so many years? You know, the ones where I wake sobbing, calling out in the night, empty and broken, desperate to keep what couldn't be kept. No? Damn.

Maybe in the new books? More of you, certainly. But so much missing, so much misplaced, distorted, ached for.

Maybe someday, I'll find you where you've probably been all along: tucked perfectly into my heart.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Hey I have a question. Having finished a draft I've got feedback from an editor (one who publishes a magazine not books so not in a position to buy it) who suggested some reorg, I've been doing an outline of my new reorg - but the though occured to me - whoever buys the book may want to organized it differently. Maybe at this point I should start sending out query letters either to literary agents or to publishers. Or - given that this is on a complicated subject maybe I should wait unti the book is perfect to try to sell it.

There's no such thing - it's always going to be in the eye of the individual editor. My own feeling about it is that, having put it together in a way that you feel gives your information at least effectively, let it fly and leave it up to individual editors to let you know about their preferences.

You aren't selling the organisation, surely? It's the subject and info presented that's important.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Do any of you send a photo with your proposals?

I never do, Allyson - but ask your agent. She'll have all the gen on that for you.

Okay, this made me snort my tea down my windpipe. Now that I've recovered from the scalding liquid in my lungs, I bring you: NaNoWriMo authors' favorite screw-ups!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

drabble: lost and found 2

The lot next to the gas station was empty except for a scattering of litter around an old tree stump.

While Dad filled the tank, I ran there and back and round again, stretching eight-year-old legs cramped by hours sitting in the car, trying not to think about all the miles yet to go before we got home.

One piece of trash caught my eye--a square corner, green printing, and a numeral.

Hey, it's a dollar. Wait...it's a TEN!

"Dad! Dad! Look what I found!" After a furtive look around, I showed him my treasure. "Can I keep it?"
