Cindy, the stuff Hec is talking about is quid pro quo harassment, which is tied in with hostile work environment, but not precisely the same thing. HWE does not need to be sexual harassment-- it can be any type of harassment.
If you can wait until I get to work, I can get you a very precise definition.

Bad mornings! No biscuits!
I was wondering about you last night, Gud. How are you doing? Did your wife and children catch it, too?
The kids were sick before I was and my wife so far is okay.
Is it all sexual harassment related?
See, aren't you glad Lee's around?
Even apart from sexual harassment, I'll note that proving a hostile work environment is difficult to document. However, I'll
also
note that a lot of companies will settle rather than go to court.

DH and the boys are playing hooky today and went to the HS basketball finals up state. I could choose to goof off all day, and yet I am doing productive stuff.
Aims! How you doing, hon?
Ah shit. Just off the phone with the plumber. They say a leak from the bottom means it needs to be replaced - at $630. Anyone know if this is highway robbery or just what it costs?
GC, I'm doing better today.

Hec is right in this. It's easier to prove in CA than it is in other states, but it is still harder to prove than "she told me I had to sleep with her if I wanted a promotion."
Aimee, are we still going to lunch?
Assuming I ever make it to work, which I need to get to doing.
