My parents, who are nearing 60, retired 3 years ago and moved to New Mexico. They still get the *big guilt* from my dad's parents back in Minnesota. I find this so funny because I always think of my parents as adults.

Spike's Bitches 22: You've got Angel breath
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Well, my mother is pissed off at me. We took a picture of Em with her sitting on the loveseat, with an empty beer bottle leaning on her. I sent it to my mom, whose favorite picture of me was taken when I was about 18 months old CHEWING ON BEER CAN THAT I FOUND IN THE SAND ON THE BEACH.
She sent me an email telling me how "devastated" she was because she opened the email in front of her friends.
We're still trying to get out of my parents' house. My advice? Run far, run fast while your parents are young and involved in their own lives. If you have to deal later on when they need care, you can go back, or bring them to you, or make other arrangements. My parents were old enough to be my grandparents, so that complicated things for us. And decisions were made which turned out not to be the best for us.
On the other hand, StE occasionally calls and sounds sort of wistful that we haven't hovered more, so I have to remind myself to do that with him. Both sons' SOs think we are freaks, we are so hands-off in their lives. they keep trying to get closer to us. Um, a little room, here? Thanks.

Heh, one of my baby pictures has me sitting on the kitchen floor with about a half dozen empty beer bottles scattered.
Come to think of it, there are probably a couple from college like that as well.
The guys who write it are brilliant, but some of the comments are just so naively optimistic this time of year. General consensus is that it looks like we have a .500 team this year. DH predicts 80 wins. I'm a bit more optimistic--my bet is 85. I must've counted a dozen, "Don't count us out yet! We could win 95! We could contend!" comments this morning.
Sound so familiar. Same with Athletics Nation, where they think they'll win the division after trading Mulder and Hudson. I think we got value for the trades, but we'll be lucky to win 87 this year. Though I think Beane has cleared enough money that if we are contending late in the year, he could pick up a rent-a-hitter for the playoff drive.
Still it'll be a fun year to watch the A's.
The funny thing is, she's not mad we took a picture of the baby with the beer bottle. She's pissed she opened it in front of her friends(which, sorry Momma, I love you, but that was dumb of you), and now she's worried about what her friends are going to think. In all honesty, they probably think it's funny as hell.
Tell her if they don't laugh, then she don't need them, cause they're not good friends.
In a single paragraph on a patient exam, she wanders from past to present and back again over and over, often within the same (run-on) sentence.
Maybe she writes fanfiction on the side!
My mother is in the process of buying her house (yay for the fiance with disposable income!) and occasionally makes comments about my moving there to be the madwoman in the attic. I know there's a tiny bit of wistfulness there, because she does miss me, but she's mostly joking, as no power in the verse could make her move to the same state as her own mother. My mother's big on the not-hypocrisy.
Realistically, the M's are building for 2006 and beyond. But now I'm wondering who is going to contend, if we suck and y'all suck. I mean, obviously, that leaves two teams, and I haven't followed their offseason moves that closely, but I wonder if the West will be down in general this year

Angels are picked to win. They've still got the reigning AL MVP. Texas has a potent lineup of young players and no pitching. Typical for them.
I don't think the Wild Card comes out of the west this year. Though I expect the Mariners are better than .500 this year. They did add some pop.
Oh God. Baseball.
