Happy birthday, lexine!!!!!!! May your A's be kind to you this year.
ChiKat and BF are so damn cute. I love the schmoop.
Off to finish catching up.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Also from last thread....
She's a key apologist for any number of theologians and religious figures (cf. Lewis, C.S.).
Well, I don't necessarily agree with everything Lewis says, but don't think he requires an apologist either.
Man, I had the shakes. Not that I have a problem or anything. I can quit any time I want to. It was just the suddenness. That's it. Thread and then no-thread. That's all, the suddenness.
Thanks for all the b-day wishes since the last time I said thanks *blush*. And thanks for all the A's well wishes - I'm just looking forward to an exciting year of baseball...period.
I'm going to have to get caught up on the end of the old thread - I missed the sex talk, but first a friend is taking me out to lunch. Yay!!!
P-Cow! Have you seen this bit of travel writing about India in Slate?
I put some of the blame on "Paul" (I'm in the "those letters were so not all written by the same person" camp), who, as you get further into them, has some really not-nice things to say about women. He has helpful things to say on other topics, but, yeah, not handed-down-from-on-high, thanks.
I put more blame on Augustine. Creator of the idea of Original Sin, who had a long-term relationship (but not marriage), which could not possibly have been love, since they weren't married, and that's just how it works. He's my favorite to beat on.
(Tangent, because I am waiting for the Sudden Editing Emergency to get to the stage where someone actually releases the files to me so they can be edited.)
Do I want this skirt? I think I do. I, of course, would wear it with something that covered my butt (because I have not just Issues, but Subscriptions), but I do really like it. It's so ruffly!
Paul's the one who said, "Better to marry than to burn," right?
Jilli, yes, and that skirt needs you!
That gives very little credit to "most people." Honestly? It strikes me as the kind of thing right-wingers are talking about when they say liberals are intolerant. I'm sure that's not how you meant it, but it is what comes across.
Heh. You're right! I can't help it if most people suck.
No, I'm really responding to the historical Christian attitude about sex. Which is extremely fucked up, and has caused tremendous damage. That is the whole of my 'plaint. You're responding to one of the attitudes. It's no monolith, Hec. I was raised nearly fundie, and yet had no idea that some people were taught sex was bad (never mind that it was never presented to me that way), until I was in my twenties. Where did I learn it was sometimes presented as bad? I learned that at a Christian college, where exactly the opposite (that sex is great) was stressed. And for the most part, the purity movements are based on the same theory.
I'm just going to say what's on my mind, because I respect you too much to mutter every time I read one of your posts on this sort of topic. I love you and don't want to end up resenting the bandwidth you use. Your posts on religion usually read as extremely narrow minded, to an extent that stuns me, given what an open minded human you are, generally. I've spent the last however long (including the drive to pick up the kids) trying to word what Lyra said up above.
