Early: So is it still her room when it's empty? Does the room, the thing, have purpose? Or do we -- what's the word? Simon: I really can't help you. Early: The plan is to take your sister. Get the reward, which is substantial. 'Imbue.' That's the word.

Have I found anyone who shares my acute dislike of Tom Hanks? Who speaks for me on post-comedy Hanks?

t forgives Plei for the Bean-dissing and joins her in the Hanks-is-overrated corner

I mean, he's just not that great of an actor, IMO. And he really needs to stop attempting Southern accents, because his versions grate on my ears.

I avoid Mel Gibson, but I make an exception for Chicken Run. Love that movie.

And if we're talking Costner, I can't believe no one has brought up Bull Durham. I don't know if it's the role, the direction, or what, but it's really remarkable how in just that one movie, an actor who normally does nothing for me manages to be as sexy as all the many foamy male ME actors, Ichiro Suzuki, and Sean Bean as anything other than Sharpe combined.

I really need to watch Bull Durham again. It's that time of year.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Costner used to have talent and charisma to burn, but I think his ego ate it all.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Joey Lauren Adams?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH! Nails! Blackboard! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

No creative control, and no having to look at his smug face. I'm down with that.

Exception that proves the rule? I know Hec keeps saying that Costner gets a "life pass" for Bull Durham, and I'll grant that as long as "life pass" means "I'll allow him to continue living" and not some kind of snark-exemption. I've never quite been clear on that.

Yup. Always a danger with the rich, good-looking, and talented.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Jim Carrey (his "comedic" roles)

Okay, this I agree with. Though I don't care for that style of comedy anyway, but having Jim Carrey as a head-liner moves it into "no force on this Earth" territory.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Always a danger with the rich, good-looking, and talented.

Sucks to be them, I guess.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

What do people see in Bull Durham, exactly? I think I would have enjoyed it much more than I did if I hadn't been led to believe, by everyone on the frickin' planet, that it was the BEST! MOVIE! EVER! I mean, it was okay, for people who like that sort of thing, but I was repeatedly assured that it was the BEST! MOVIE! EVER! even for people who didn't, which I am, and it wasn't.

To be fair, that was before "Dude, where's my car?" was released.

Granted, Bull Durham is not The Apple.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Always a danger with the rich, good-looking, and talented.

Hollywood's full of the above (or, well, two out of the three). I just want to point those who've fallen prey to Costner-like behaviour at George Clooney and ask -- "Are you better looking than he is? Better at your roles than he is at his? Then shut the HELL up, will you?"
