Simon: I, uh... I never-never shot anyone before. Book: I was there, son. I'm fair sure you haven't shot anyone yet.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Damn, Gus. You know you need to write a book someday, right?

Yes. You really should.

So, are things mostly okay now? Your house is your own again and all that?

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Yikes, Gus. I can think of worse scenarios to come home to, but not many that involve the house still being in one piece.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

"Drama student from the U", I thought. "Great makeup!", I thought.

"Uh....Surprise?"

What does one say in this situation? Has Miss Manners posted to this dilemma?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Dear PtB: I know Gus was put here on earth to entertain us, but could you please stop supplying him with quite so many entertaining stories?

Bag the crypto. Say what is on your mind.

Oh, yes. The house is mine, again. The Man (Gary Odell, the other cop in Cameron, WI) came and coaxed the guy out (by name), after my attempts failed. The guy would not believe it was really my house, 'cuz I'm black, and there ain't no black people in WI.

Damages to the crib were minimal. A broken window, some disorder in the main bathroom... just another memoir item.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

Gus, I COMM'd your pain before saying I am so so sorry. I am. Sorry, that is.

Aha! You were caught Homeowning While Black. Almost as dangerous as Driving While Black.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Damn, Gus. You do seem to collect the happenings, don't you? I hope the next few months are calm enough for you that you can start telling us some of your older stories.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Amos & Andrew, with Samuel L Jackson playing the part of Gus.

Oh my. Just ... oh my.
