I have a couple of friends going to Flan and i think one left today from the UK.

there's been quite a bit of miscommunication and lying going on from what i can gather. Fillion's people said the con people called them and told them it was cancelled, but last night one of the (dis)organizers posted saying Fillion had cancelled and then later deleted the thread.

this is why i don't do cons. you don't know who you're giving your money too. i never had any worries with the PBPs or the parties Allyson, Maya and Kristen held. BE are a bunch of asswipes and it should be possible for all of those con-goers to take them to the bank with this.

They were pulling shit with the VM-related one, too, cancelling Francis at the last minute due to "lack of funds" or something like that. I hear the people who went had a really good time, but...this, here, is pretty awful. I have confidence that the fans will organize something, though, and that people will have a good time anyway.

Damn. We were gonna do a Firefly party, and a VM party at some point, but then, there were these people, and they ate everything up.

We could never guarantee guests, I was uncomfortable paying them to show up to a charity thing, and well, yeah so EMA is dead.

the thing is, the So-Cal Browncoats did have a backup bash planned the first time BE was threatening to cancel. when BE announced that Flan was back on, they cancelled.

It looks like, back in October they canceled another event they call a "Nano Event" that was supposed to be for either the weekend before or the weekend after this Flanvention. They were going to book Gina Torres for it. They only sold 35 tickets, and so didn't have enough, but they didn't cop to the problem 'til they were ready to cancel, and fans from the UK had booked flights over for that, too. ** [link] ** It looks like some of them were waiting for Flanvention tickets, and switching their flights.
