move out and draw fire

anyone who thinks the Alliance is representative of a democracy

Well, that's the NR for you. The Alliance is an ideal example of their definition of the democracy they'd like to see in America (and the rest of the world).

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Quasi-totalaitarian fascists have been known to get elected democratically.

No, I get that (lord do I get that), but I think at a certain point it would cease to be a democracy, or even a "democracy".

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

My friend Leonard has a running gag about how if Jonah Goldberg were anyone else's offspring, he'd spend his days attending Trekkie conventions while living in his parents' basement. Instead he's a national columnist.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Well, that's the NR for you.

New Reich?

Gus, step away from National Review.

Oh. Sorry.

Art Crawl!!!

I got an email from Time and Space Toys that the Serenity Ship Ornament is now available.

Also, I had ordered the Firefly companion book from Amazon and got notice that hit was shipping early. Well, due to extreme brokedness I had to attempt to cancel my order. (It was too late.) But I did get the information from Amazon's customer service that the book was in high demand.

I wonder if that's why it's shipping early. (It wasn't scheduled to come out 'til next week.)

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I got my Serenity ship ornament today. It is so pretty! I danced with glee, just to hold it in my hands, my very own little Serenity!

/geek moment

It's shiny. Yep. You should get yourself one.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Good grief. I just realized, that thing I wrote about the Serenity ornament rhymes and scans. Gah. Too geeky.

"There are two sorts of people in the world: those who believe Joss Whedon is a genius and those who are wrong." - Connie Ogle, Miami Herald

I wonder if that's why it's shipping early. (It wasn't scheduled to come out 'til next week.)

In most cases, street dates for books aren't a certainty, although Tuesdays are generally the new release day for those books that have a strict-on-sale date. The Firefly companion started trickling into warehouses two weeks ago, and I got mine this past week.
