I don't think Simon is afraid for himself, but he is afraid of what might happen to River. The only real disagreement I have with this beautiful recap is that I feel we do see multiple aspects to Jayne. Namely, when he agrees with Mal (quoting Book) after Mal's St. Crispin, and more subtly during the EMP when he makes sure to strap down everybody else before securing himself.
There were also a couple of minor errors, such as the two guys monitoring River and Simon's escape in the beginning are not blue hands. They might be meant to evoke them though as a sort of injoke for fans of the show. There's also a few misquotes probably because of the subtitles.
But overall, a great recap.
Jacob finds the deeper meaning in EVERYTHING. It's amazing.
Oh, random: every time now that I see a Universal movie, when the Universal logo sequence appears, I keep expecting to start zooming in and hear "Earth-That-Was could no longer sustain..." Anybody else?
Used to be, I'd expect the continents to start submerging, as that was the best part of "Waterworld," in that it was a cool effect and that it was the only thing that didn't more or less immediately disappoint.

This is me, every. single. time. It makes me wish my seaQuest and Earth2 DVDs had stuck with the ten-year-old logo.
I just noticed the page title:
Television Without Pity » Firefly » Recaps & Extras » Season 2 Episode 1
I listened to the
Serenity
commentary last night. I get the impression Joss thinks Jack Green, the lighting guy, is slightly competent.

Yep, much the way every time I see the Paramount logo it's supposed to turn into an Andean peak with Indiana Jones somewhere on it.
Great recap so far, although I'm only a few screens in.
Speaking of lighting... Re-Lighting The Firefly was not at all what I was expecting it to be.
I am completely in favour of a special edition with many more (and better) extras on it.
