If I only had a brain...

FUTURE SG-1 SPOILER NOT YET AIRED And Claudia Black was pregnant and near term, so Vala had to be as well. Black leather bondage gear doesn't really give you many options for camouflage.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Betsy: Oh, I didn't know CB was pregnant. Does that mean I have to reduce my irritation level with the pregnant-Vala plotline? It does, doesn't it? Sigh.

Katie: Yeah, I reluctantly came to the same conclusion. Pregnant actresses lead to last-minute stupid storylines. See: Scully, Cordelia.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I liked the Gillian Anderson pregnancy-induced storyline. It's the one where she really wasn't that stank.

You know, Zhaan could have been pregnant and nobody would ever have known.

What was your problem with the GA pregnancy Scully storyline, Betsy?

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I think the last-minute Scully abduction plot worked pretty well, as that was back when X Files still had good writers and Chris Carter's ego hadn't inflated to the size of Australia. Sure, it brought about the Mytharc That Ate Manhattan, but Duane Barry was tragically creepy, and watching it not knowing what would come, it was pretty entertaining.

If I only had a brain...

I must sheepishly admit that I never, ever watched X-files. Therefore, my opinions on any plotlines are strictly second-hand. I thought I'd heard bitching about the GA pregnancy and I conflated it with the Scully pregnancy.

IOW, I agree that the actual pregnancy was handled well on the show.
