The whole thing with the place of honor and hood ornament bits is obviously a joke.
The cartridge bit is from a completely different part of the gag reel.

Um, so, in the interest of moving this conversation away from me chewing on my foot, extended Firefly gag reel vs. Serenity gag reel. Which do you all think is funnier?
I'm voting for the Firefly one, if for nothing else than the circle take from The Message. However, the Serenity one does seem to have a higher funny stuff to blown lines ratio. Not sure whether that's actually true or not, but the pacing, so to speak, feels better.

I vote Firefly gag reel. There's more variety of funny. Fly on the nose, cap in the ass, circle of woe, flubbed lines (of course). Even without the planned funny, I think I'd vote FF because of the variety.
