Um, so, in the interest of moving this conversation away from me chewing on my foot, extended Firefly gag reel vs. Serenity gag reel. Which do you all think is funnier?

I'm voting for the Firefly one, if for nothing else than the circle take from The Message. However, the Serenity one does seem to have a higher funny stuff to blown lines ratio. Not sure whether that's actually true or not, but the pacing, so to speak, feels better.

I vote Firefly gag reel. There's more variety of funny. Fly on the nose, cap in the ass, circle of woe, flubbed lines (of course). Even without the planned funny, I think I'd vote FF because of the variety.

Definitely the Firefly one, for the more variety! The Serenity one, though funny, seems to be almost all flubbed lines.

And does anyone know why it (the Firefly gag reel) wasn't included in full on the DVDs?!

UK to get new unseen footage

One of the best sci-fi films of the year, Serenity, is coming to DVD on February 27 – and the UK is to get some bonus material not included on the US release because we're Joss' favourites.

As well as his introduction (which screening audiences will already have seen) and his commentary, there are also nine deleted scenes (finally, Inara gets some screen time) and outtakes. Featurettes cover the history of the 500 years between now and Serenity, the visual effects and the journey of the crew from cancelled TV show to feature film. But the real news is that we in the UK are going to get A Filmmaker's Journey, following Joss from script to screen, in a 20-minute documentary that won't appear on the US disc.
