I'm a fan, I'm in the fandom. Buffy was the first time I really let go and allowed myself to love a show wholeheartedly, and didn't reserve a big chunk of myself for snerking from the sidelines. I'd been pretty fannish about shows early (ST:TNG - helped run cons; X-Files early on before the immense suckage began), but Buffy changed things (two tape machines, just in case, transcribing eps, watch n post, etc.).
I feel like fandom generally coalesces around co-projects like fic and SOS campaigning. Where do the BNFs usually come in?
Fic, moderating a mailing list/community, fanart production, or really good analysis. But they have to be, um, involved. Generally, anyway, although I can think of one or two BNFs who are solely BNFs for fic production, without any other involvement in the fandom.
Fake blood and a cricket bat!
My 10 year old son, named Shannon, is going to be Shannon of the Dead.
(Look, Jars, you and Nibbler caused me brain damage).
Excellent!
I just feel I should confuudle your already confused brain by telling you that those were our RL nicknames long before either of us ventured online.

Jewel in those heels makes me breathe hard. I'm being dead serious.
I knew Jose Canseco was there, but I was trying to forget. Do you really want to broadcast his association, Universal?
I think people get to call themselves what they want to and I follow what they call themselves, even when they change it on me mid friendship.
I think it's rude to link without asking.
But I also have pink hair and am in the middle of the busiest month of my life, so take that as you will.
What if they change it, and then change it back, and go by the full name, unless ita is the one to shorten it?
