Now, I can hold a note for a long time...actually I can hold a note forever. But eventually that's just noise. It's the change we're listening for. The note coming after, and the one after that. That's what makes it music.

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I think that possibly one big factor I've not seen mentioned before is that Joss was able to make the feature film quality pilot "Serenity" for just over $10 million. While that's Godzilla sized for a TV pilot, it's normally the kind of money that gets you bunches of second tier WB teen stars being chased through the woods by someone with a mask and sharpened kitchen untensils on the big screen. War of the Worlds probably spent more on lighting Cruise favorably so he wouldn't frighten Dakota Fanning.

The evil is this way?

I didn't want a Firefly movie. I wanted to see Firefly on my television set EVERY week. I wanted lots and lots of good stories--stories that I knew Joss could give us.

As thrilled as I am with the movie, every time I hear the theme song on SciFi on Friday nights, my anger kindles anew.

I don't see Serenity as a win for fans. I see it as a nice consolation for Joss that we just happen to be able to enjoy.

It's still the best consolation prize ever. I assume. I have no evidence to back that up. I'll tell you when I actually see the movie.

Ok, but the question wasn't Firefly on tv or a movie. Firefly as a series was dead, done, over. So yeah, I do appreciate having another visit to this 'verse.

Don't get me wrong, I'm THRILLED at the prospect of the movie, considering that the series was, in fact, dead when it came about. But if the movie is great (and I think it will be), I'm just going to get more angry because of what we know could have been.

It makes it all the more painful.

who'm I kidding--that tag never closes here.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Speaking of spending extra time in the Firefly 'verse, I finally tracked down a bunch of issue #2 of the comic. I had a choice between the Book, Kaylee and Zoe covers and opted for Zoe, though I thought the Kaylee actually looked better.

I guess I should ammend that by saying that I don't share in the rosy glow of some of the fans being exploited for this marketing push. The movie, to me, just drives home the fact that we got screwed out of some really good tv.

I suppose I should just be happy with the movie and eat my sour grapes in peace.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Andi and I are watching The Train Job with Joss and Tim commentary.

What is even happening?

The screwing stole my FF joy. I'd really like Joss to make me a brand new world. /where's my pony
