Lorne: Take care of yourself and ah, make sure fluffy is getting enough love. Gunn: Did he have anything? Fred: No. And who's fluffy? Are you fluffy? Gunn: He called me fluffy? Fred: He said make sure…wait. You don't think he was referring to anything of mine that's fluffy, do you? Because that would just be inappropriate.

Spike's Bitches 21 Gunn Salute

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

WTF, beathen? That's a weird kind of comment.

JohnSweden - Jan 27, 2005 3:11:26 pm PST #7722 of 10002
I can't even.

At least I still have a job, but I'm starting to look around for a new one.

Is there someone you can complain to about those comments? Because that shit is just not acceptable in a "mostly alright" performance review. Talk about condescending.

beathen - Jan 27, 2005 3:15:57 pm PST #7723 of 10002
Sure I went over to the Dark Side, but just to pick up a few things.

What kind of backhanded insult is THAT?

At least he's looking out you! He's so sorry for giving you a job you suck at!

That's just the thing - he didn't hire me. The manager who was at the office before him hired me. Out of everyone in the office, I have been there the longest. For those interested this is the rest of the review with comments.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Scale:
1 - Outstanding
2 - Exceeded Expectations
3 - Consistently Met Expectations
4 - Met Some Expectations
5 - Did Not Meet Expectations
Job Specific Expertise: 3 - Elizabeth is knowledgeable about the reports I ask her to complete as well as the weekly corporate and territory reports. There have been instances of hiring paperwork being incorrect or incomplete as well as missing agent errors on applications. [my comment: No one's perfect, fool.]
Planning Work: 4 - Elizabeth has difficulty prioritizing her work. Consequently, important tasks are sometimes delayed or forgotten. [That's cuz I'm doing every. damn. thing. in the office while he plays games on his palm pilot.]
Teamwork and Cooperation: 3 - Elizabeth is generally very cooperative and hlepful with management. She is sometimes difficult with agents. [only becuase they think I'm their bitch and I'll do everything for them]
Communication: 4 - Elizabeth has good basic [basic?! WTF] communication skills, however, at times she lacks judgment as to what should be communicated. Specifically, several times I have given her a specific and important task to complete. Unless I asked her about the task, I never knoew what was going on and did not know whether it had been completed or not. [Would you like me to hold your hand? If he wanted a status he should have just asked. And can I say, vague much?]
Customer Needs Orientation: 2 - Elizabeth has a good heart for our members. [Finally a good comment without something negative.]
Professionalism: 4 - Elizabeth adheres to the code of ethics. I feel she lacks the maturity and judgement her position requires. [Again, vague much? Also, how much more mature do I need to be to run a whole office. Idiot.]
Attendance and Dependability: 3 - Elizabeth's attendance record is adequate. [Adequate?! I have only called in sick 4 times in the last two years and that was only for a few hours. I never took the whole day off.]
Comments (Include strengths and areas of development) - Elizabeth is a kind person who, in general means well. She is very enthusiastic about her position. I feel we have done her a disservice by hiring her into this position without the required professionalism, judgement and maturity.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

For his information, I DO get all my work done. But since I am the only one who is allowed to go into the filing cabinets, I have to stop whatever I'm doing when someone wants a file so I can pull it. I also have to refile it. Do you know how much time you can waste doing that? Lots. And it's really tedious and boring. Along with doing EVERYTHING else in the office.

Okay, taking long deep breaths. Calmer now. (Somewhat)

Pardon the language but he is a fucking jackass.

I'm getting the pig!

beathen, have you had other reviews prior to this one that were more favorable? I mean, you've been there for TWO years! You'd think someone else would've commented before now about such issues, if they really were legit issues.

Bastards.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Just so you know? This post definitely does not belong in Movies.

I just saw Sideways, and it made me homesick for Nilly, and Marta and beth and Sail and 'dre and Teppy taking no bullshit from a waitron, and Jessica and Laura and Deb... I have such incredibly happy memories of that Sunday in wine country, and this movie brought it all back so vividly.

Yeah, it was a great little movie, with Lowelly, Lowelly, Lowelly, and Sandra Oh, whom I've been in love with since I first saw her in a Canadian indie film, Double Happiness. And Virginia Madsen, who I think is one of the prettiest women alive, in that ordinary way that your neighbor down the block is pretty, and I've thought so since the first movie I saw her in, Electric Dreams, a trippy little nonsense film set in SF, in which her love interest was also named Miles. Sideways was a nicely done little movie, but it affected me on a number of levels, for a number of different reasons.

I miss you guys.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I wonder why there are so few happy portraits from that era.

Fashion. You were supposed to look serious in a portrait. Smiling for a picture is a pretty modern idea.

beathen, that's a very strange performance review. Is there a human resources person you can talk to about it?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I miss you guys.

Aw, {{{Bev}}} I miss you too! That was a great weekend.

My first boss was very kind, personally, but business-wise didn't have what it took to be a manager. My review from him was glowing with praise. My current boss is not very kind, duh, and is the biggest jackass manager I've met so far. Sure, our numbers have increased, but not due to anything he's done. His review, above, only covers the last 5 months of 2004.

To give you an idea of how big a jackass, if you couldn't tell already, he told me when he first got hired on that many people don't understand what "the boss" does in his office and they assume he plays games. He was implying that he doesn't play games. Well, almost every single time I need to go to his office for something he is playing games on his palm pilot. Either that or he's socializing with the other manager he hired (who happens to be a good friend).

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I miss you guys.

Awww, come back. We're not out of wine yet.

I'm sure there is but I'm not even sure I want to say anything to anyone in the company because I'm almost positive that it will be documented and get back to my boss. I hoping that by the end of April I'll have a new job closer to my family (which will also include me moving). I just want to wait it out for a few more months because I still have to pay my bills, even if that means putting up with shit like this.
