Love both Lucy Maud and Louisa. I think I have a copy of Rose in Bloom and one of Jo's Boys dating to the first decade of the 20th Century, that belonged to my grandmother.
, she went to go live with a very nice family who feeds her tuna fish all day long.
Lilty, I hope you just mean they take good care of her, because feeding her only fish is bad. Cats need taurine, a substance found in beef and other red meat, or they go blind. Fish-only diets have other nutritional deficiencies, too.
Sorry about the cat-blather, but I couldn't let this one pass unremarked. I'll go mind my own business, now.
New York Things: The Fricke Museum. An old mansion converted with the owner's private collection of Vermeers and El Grecos. Pretty fuckin' spiff.
Check the Village Voice and New Yorker listings for things like Loser's Lounge and other such cool action.
HI HEC!
I don't know why I felt the need to do that just then.
Ooh, have fun in NYC Mr. Broom! I'll bet you will.
t has a cheese cave! AND a maitre du fromage, who is the dude in charge of the cheese, like the sommelier with the wine.
But do they have...extreme cheese??!?!? (Those of us at Jaleo at the F2F tasted the EXTREME CHEESE. Or Queso Extremeño, which isn't actually the same, but whatever)
Actually, Beverly, the tuna fish that this wonderful (mythical) family feeds her can't do her any harm now. It's the same nice family that has kindly taken in all of my childhood pets. They also likely own a farm and probably have nice rabbits for her to chase.
Note to self: Others are kind and practical, and don't live in your delusions. They will likely take them seriously. Be more careful.

I met Kelly a few times at SF conventions. Such a dear, sweet man. I choked up a bit when I learned he'd died.
I always liked Eight Cousins and Rose in Bloom more than Little Women.
Me too. They're just more fun, IMO. And Rose gets a better deal in the husband department than Jo, though I know some readers who've never forgiven Alcott for
killing Charlie.
Didn't bother me, since I've never much cared for that type of guy anyway, and couldn't picture him reforming.
Ooh, and I also love An Old-Fashioned Girl.
WRT later Anne books, I love House of Dreams and Rilla, but usually skip Windy Poplars, Ingleside, and Rainbow Valley. And I re-read the Pat books as often as Anne and a little more often than Emily.
Anyone want to play literati?
I couldn't get enough of
Jane of Lantern Hill
but honestly, I could never get all that wrapped up in the Anne books. I adore the story, but I think I got so attached to the movies when I was very young that my young self was almost insulted by differences. I was all "Twins? What freaking twins? I don't think so."
I am going to put them on my reading list for the year, now that I am larger and therefore older than I was then.
