Well, according to their Web site, they do heart transplants and cardiac research, so maybe that level of technology means that they also do the endoscopic bypass. That would be great.

That would be awesome. You have NO idea how relieved I was when they transferred her there from our local hospital. Of course they're not equipped for heart surgery, but it's not a very good facility, either.

It looks like a damned good hospital. When they have a cardiac wing, it's sad that cardiac problems are so common that a whole wing is warranted, but it also means you get really top-notch care.

Yup. And yup. DH has a friend from HS that was a nurse in the cardiac unit. She gives it top marks. Makes me feel better that she's getting treated there.

It's sad that I can say this, but bypasses are pretty much routine these days, which is good for your mom in the sense that it's a surgery that they've refined and improved to the point where it's honestly not as big and scary as the phrase "Open Heart Surgery" makes it sound.
Still. When parents do this, they scare the crap out of us, and I think it's to get revenge for all the times we scared them in high school.

Oh, definitely. It's really amazing what medicine can do now. And that makes me glad. The knowledge calms me, somewhat.

Heh. The phone rang when I was reading this post--Mom. She wanted to let me know they'd postponed her surgery and that she didn't want me driving up if it was going to snow all weekend. She was worried about me!

DH and I now have Annabel's cold. He left work at 3:00 because of it. At 3:00 I still felt fine, but I now have a sore throat and a cough.
Ugh. Time to megadoes the vitamin C.
