Spike's Bitches 21 Gunn Salute
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
think the point is not to actually tell something true, usually, but to "entertain" or "enlighten" or "encourage spirituality" or "amaze" or something.
I'd like to believe this, but in fact whenever I snopes-smack someone I get an "Oh, damn, thought it was true" reply. I do think people want to believe that the world is more interesting than it is.
Or maybe people are just becoming more credulous. Or maybe our educational system isn't teaching people to question everything.
Where can one get funky baby gifts? I need to get a present for a friend who just had a little girl, and I can't get this friend something serious. I was thinking about the plushy bacteria, but they aren't really baby safe.
When do you come home, SA? I thought you were coming home right at Christmastime, and was surprised every time I saw you mentioning your next jaunt.
End of January. We leave for London tomorrow morning at 5.30 (gag) and today we're going to Oban today, even though we only get about twenty minutes of daylight.
What's up with your group?
Just shifting dynamics, figuring out where we stand and what we want to do. Traveling with four people is difficult in the best of circumstances, and when you combine that with two confident, agressive-type people (me and A) and my natural tendency to do what I want to do on my own if no one else wants to do it, well, rifts can form. It makes things interesting at least.
Argh, must go catch a train...hope I didn't miss anything important about someone's life. But I'm really happy that my focus lately is b.org and not livejournal. Yay for that. Ciao!
Raquel, Uncommon Goods has some cute baby gifts.
Also, One Step Ahead.
Raquel's post reminds me, I have a present to send Susan W. I've had it since I went to Baltimore. I suck!
I must get in the shower, 'cause I have to do laundry today. It's gonna be a crazy one.
Or maybe our educational system isn't teaching people to question everything.
This, I think.
I only have one person who regularly sends me these things anymore - a hodge-podge of smarmy appreciate-your-friends crap, "amazing" "true" stories, and stupid jokes. I did Snopes him on a couple of things back some time ago, and on one occasion, he actually did e-mail me first for a fact check on something. But now it's faded away, and I've kind of given up. It's annoying, because he's one of the sweetest people I know, and makes me so irritated with him.
I've nearly gotten off all the family-spam lists. No more jokes or stupid hoaxes.
The boy only woke up once last night for about 15 minutes. This is progress.
Raquel, I don't know if I'd spend so much money on these gifts. But Posh Tots is fun to browse.
Greetings O Bitches. I just got back from the tennis. It was fun. I saw Alicia Molik looking dangerous, and then got to see Andy "No, I've never been in a boy band" Roddick do a number on Greg "My Rusedski is broken" Rusedski. Verily, verily, these guys can play. Better than I can, anyway. I know this because their serves went in, even when they served from the baseline. In the line for the taxi, some woman behind me was complaining that she expected better, and a lot of the shots were ones she could do. I was thinking "Yeah, but you don't do them from a Roddick serve." But did she listen? No. She blithely ignored all my thoughts, no matter how clear they sounded in my head.
Oh, and I got fed too, with yummy stuff, for I was there to play host to some clients. It was pretty easy, once the beer came into play.
Hey, billytea!
Mom's gone in for cardiac catheterization right about now to find out what they need to do next. If she needs angioplasty or stents, they'll do that today. If it's worse and she needs open heart surgery, they'll schedule that for later.
I hate the waiting.

I just ate a pain au chocolat from the cafe around the corner and it was surprisigly extremely delicious. This has started my day in an excellent manner.
ETA ~ma for Cashmere's mother, and I hope hope hope that things are better today for Jilli's friend and her DH.
Waiting is so hard, Cashmere. I'm praying for peace for you, and that your mom needs either nothing, or angioplasty, and that whatever she needs, they spot it easily, and perform the procedure expertly, and that her recovery is swift and easy (and nudges her to take better care of O's grandmother).
