How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

I'm getting pretty annoyed myself, Cashmere.

I didn't actually taste hummus until after I married Greg. I still don't like it, so Owen's a big step ahead of me.

I can't remember my SAT scores. The verbal was amazing, the math was better than it had any right to be, but not good enough for excitement. My GRE scores were good. I didn't know you were supposed to study for either one of those tests. Duh.

Punishingly Intricate

Congratulations -t!

Yep, I want to say that my verbal score was well over 100 points higher than my math. Maybe closer to 200. The math is not with me.

this is true for me also. 220 points actually (I can remember my exact scores after 20 years but couldn't remember any of the geometry I'd learned the previous year when I actually took the blasted test. What's up with that, Brain?) The first thing my old HS math teacher said to me when I saw her at my 5 year reunion was, "They let the kids use calculators when they take the SATs now! You would have done so much better!"

Which is probably true because it is the arithmetic that gives me problems. Except I just used my Hello Kitty calculator to subtract my math score from my verbal to figure out the difference and I got 23536- (or something) so maybe being able to use a calculator wouldn't really have helped that much at all.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I think I did slightly better on my GREs (combined 1280) than on my SATs (combined 1250, I think?). Both, though, my verbal was higher than my math.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Furnace-ma for the Deena kin,and I'm with her on the hummus dislike. Dislike is too strong a word. I think the word I am looking for is...but, why? Darn coffee mug is empty again. I hate when that happens.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I'm getting pretty annoyed myself, Cashmere.

We had a furnace problem in college. Our furnace went out on our rental (and it was FRIGIDLY cold). We figure out that it was some kind of switch for the thermostat that was at issue. If we kept the thermostat on 80, it stayed on ALL THE TIME. If we put it on a reasonable temperature, the furnace would quit and we couldn't restart it. We weren't paying the gas bill, so we chose 80 degrees.

We sat around sweating in our underwear in January.

Hmm. Go figure. I adore hummus. But not if it's too heavily spiced. I bought the plain for the boy. He ate it spread on Zwieback toast. His wee hands were all hummusy.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I missed that Deena's furnace is still not fixed. That's so wrong.

I like hummus. Especially with lots of garlic. I also like chickpeas straight out of the can.

What is even happening?

Does anyone ever worry that the tests which can have such a huge effect on a person's future are scored so screwily? I mean really, and what's with the 400 points just for showing up?

Amy - Jan 11, 2005 8:04:57 am PST #3115 of 10002
Because books.

my SATs (combined 1250, I think?). Both, though, my verbal was higher than my math.

Nora is me. This is what I got, as far as I can remember, and my verbal was way higher. Math, I think I got some points for showing up.

Owen likes hummus!

I only discovered it about two years ago, and I like it as long as it's the plain variety. I'll offer it to the baby next time we have some, though, because when I think of all the things I never tried till I was an adult, it's fairly pathetic. We were a Wonder Bread, plain mashed potatoes, canned green bean kind of family. I will say that my mom is a much better and more adventurous cook now, though.

Deena! Much furnace ~ma to you and the family. I can't imagine being without heat for days with the little ones. Stupid landlord.

AmyLiz get out of my brain!!! I was JUST thinking this while feeding the baby. Really. I mean, I never even had yogurt until college. Or Chinese food. Or asparagus. I know my family was stretching a modest food budget to feed five kids and so we didn't eat out or anything but I'm simply amazed sometimes at the kinds of things Owen will get to try that I never even imagined existed until I was an adult.
