Oh, I wish those council guys would let me have an hour alone in the room with her, if I was larger and had grenades.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

-t, congratulations! It's nice to see some happy making news.

Happy Birthday, MM!!

Aimee, I was just thinking Emma will never have need of MM's zombies, for she'll have all of us under her thrall. We've got to be better than an army of zombies.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

But this week I started treating my list as an overall guide to remind myself of what I need to get done, and moving things that don't happen one day on to the next without feeling guilty over it. And I'm getting a lot done and feeling good about myself.

And you’re doing a very good job of it too, Susan.

Oh, crap, Betsy. I’m sorry about your friend, and I hope everything turns out OK!

Note to self: Open kickass daycare center. If I build it, they will come.

He brought me a teacup last night for a second date because he noticed that I collected them when he was in my apartment for our first date.

sj, that’s awesome, especially if the teacups were never mentioned on the first day. Fantabulously thoughtful and sweet.

It's one of my pet peeves. Friends and family can call me Val, but if you've just met me, don't you dare cut it down without asking!
It makes me mad when people see my name on my nametag at work, most of the time, because usually, they only do it when they want something. You can just see their little wheels turning: “It will give me what I want half off if I call it by its name!”. It’s either that, or they are angry about something. The rare person who says it in an honest, friendly way makes me happy.

Happy Birthday to MM!

Sees “Yellow in Pillows” picture and promptly dies of the cuteness. Emma, may your tiara always be shiny.

I was naughty today. I got a smidge of holiday pay and decided to go take a peek and see if I could find a sassy top on clearance to wear out tonight. I ended up spending a hundred bucks on underwear, a pair of jeans, 4 pairs of earrings, a necklace, a cardigan, a pocketbook, and a very pretty blue silk camisole with beige-ey lace trim. Oops.

I've learned to be nice about it when people accidentally leave the E off my first name or inject a second b into my surname, but it drives me bugfuck crazy when anyone outside of specific family members call me "Annie." I am only called "Annie" in those parts of the family where there is another Anne (e.g., my stepmother).

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

Second thing, related? This will be going out live from my living room. I could use a couple more people here for this.

Too bad I'm heading back to Alaska on Saturday, 'cause this sure sounds like fun. Is it wrong that I'm kind of hoping to get stuck here? Not that I think it's likely. If it were the Juneau end, there would be a real chance of getting weathered in.

No, it was never mentioned. He just noticed I owned a lot of teacups.
