Rubber mallets are the best. My husband keeps one in the kitchen.
It was really funny when we had carpet installed. Our son came pounding downstairs and said, "Hey! The guy is using a MEAT TENDERIZER to put the carpet in!"

I'm trying to think how needle nosed pliers are handy for bras and blanking.
Wait, to uncrimp the damned wee hooky things?
Hmm. I think of the toolbox as the hubster's even though we've been married 25 years. Sick.
Tools I can't imagine being without:

Got it in one. Also useful to re-crimp.
Socket wrenches are my favorite tools. Especially when working in tight places, like cars.
C-Clamps!
I don't have any. But I've wanted them. My dad about had a stroke at christmas at my brother's when we were putting together the diningroom table and chairs. I need a c-clamp. What do you MEAN you don't have ANY C-clamps! You MUST have C-clamps!
What's really amusing is my brother has about every other tool known to man and a few not, what with all the work he does on his car. But no c-clamps.
Cordless drill/screwdriver.
t duh! And a set of drill bits. Our screwdriver is cordful. Hmm.
Oh. A high-quality tape measure and a stud finder.
A level.
ETA: Oh and a tape measure. Except someone already mentioned that one
Crap, I need a cordless drill. I have one in my possession, but it is old and crappy and also borrowed. At some point, I suppose I'll have to give it back.
