All right, yes, date and shop and hang out and go to school and save the world from unspeakable demons. You know, I wanna do girlie stuff!

Goodbye and Good Riddance 2004: Well, I Wasn't Expecting That.

Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Christmukkah, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Oh, and 2004? Don't think we've forgotten about you.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

I learned this lesson the hard way on my 16th birthday, Toddson. Angela on My So-Called Life had the red hair. It was a thing. There are pictures. Shudder.

Because books.

Nonian, I'm so glad you liked it! And I'm glad you're home safe, too. I'm still sorry it was late, though -- next time I have to pay more attention to going-out-of-town announcements.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Resolution for 2005 - I will never, ever, ever, color my hair myself again. Never. Ever. Really.

I've so been in that place before. It was NOT pretty.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I've so been in that place before. It was NOT pretty.

See, I've never been in that place. I've been in "I will never, ever, ever go to a salon to get my hair colored again." place, however.

(I've never had a happy salon color experience.)

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Well, I'd been reading about so many Buffistas coloring their hair, and the pictures always looked so pretty. And it was after Christmas and I had a week before I had to go back to work and there was this dye ... said it'd wash out in 6 to 12 shampoos. Two weeks later ... it's still there. It's been described as mauve, burgundy (where it's dark), and pink (where it's light).

Nope. Never again.

Toddson! Your hair is so gorgeous. Why would you go coloring it anyway?

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Toddson, call salons and ask if they have someone who does "corrective color." They'll fix you up.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Yup. Except for the monstrously expensive guy who did my hair for my wedding, every salon dye job I've ever had has been an unqualified disaster. My hair is not safe in other people's hands.

Thanks for the compliment and advice - it's growing out, I'm getting my hair cut Saturday which will get rid of most of it (my hair grows fast). But I do learn ... this was just kind of embarrassing.

As to why? well ... all the other kids are doing it!

Okay, I'm somewhat mollified by this. Though I should note that several times during the DC F2F I had to remind myself that petting your hair would be socially forward, not to mention inappropriate on my honeymoon.
