Goodbye and Good Riddance 2004: Well, I Wasn't Expecting That.

Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Christmukkah, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Oh, and 2004? Don't think we've forgotten about you.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I got MachinaMail! And SailMail! Plus a couple things I'd ordered that I was beginning to think wouldn't arrive till '05, so that's a relief. The cards are gorgeous, each in their own very different way, but I swear there's a sort of glow coming off both of them.

And I got a wee parcel from Deb, too. It must be Christmas. Thanks, guys.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

2004 was the year I met FAQ Girl. All other events in my life pale in significance. When I think about how we met, I shake my head. It all seems so improbable. Yet, here it is, over six months later, and while we've had a few bumps in the road, we are still insanely happy together.

t edit and sluuuttt!

Jon, you two are so cute together. A great couple! It was so fun meeting you.

2004 was the year I finally got to meet some Buffistas after lurking around for years (going back to the TT days). I treasure each and every one of you.

Mr. Scola’s wardrobe by Botany 500

When I met Jon earlier this year, he told me his girlfriend was in Canada.

It sounds kind of suspicious to me...

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

When I met Jon earlier this year, he told me his girlfriend was in Canada.

Does she live in Alberta?

(Shit, her name is Alberta, she lives in Vancouver!)

Does she suck like a hoover?

Yes, I had to go to the most off-color place.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Squee!!!! aurelia, part one has arrived! I love the smell of the candle and the chocolate is ALWAYS appreciated. I've never heard of Wrapsacks before; it's a wonderful idea. I'll enter my info tonight. The calendar of vintage posters is perfect! It shall replace my vintage Italian movie poster calendar on January 3d, when I again grace the office with my presence. And the penguin card! Hee!

Really, this package couldn't have come at a better time.

To my santee, I was hoping to get your gift out today, but it's looking less and less likely. I still have to wrap the sucker. It will go out Monday at the latest.

brillig

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive, well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, choc. in one hand, martini in other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "Woo!"

Bless you, MFNlaw, I needed to see that.

Our wings are not tired.

Dear Secret Santa, at the last moment I decided to take off for upstate NY to do the snow thing. We will be gone from Dec 29 - Jan 7. If stuff is in the mail my neighbor will grab it for me.

DH decided he wanted to fly out on the 6AM flight on the 29th. He doesn't know that his surprise birthday party will keep him up late the 28th. Guess we will sleep on the plane.

I'm in frantic mode here. Dinner for a dozen or so family types on Saturday and then a party for 40 or so on Tuesday. Did I mention that I haven't shopped for anyone except the kids and my very special Buffista? The house is a pit.

cleaning now...
