Goodbye and Good Riddance 2004: Well, I Wasn't Expecting That.

Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Christmukkah, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Oh, and 2004? Don't think we've forgotten about you.

I bop to Wittgenstein. -- Nutty

2004 has been, for me, the Year of Unpredented Happenings.

It's been the year of Meeting Internet Friends; I've now met four people in real life who were internet friends first (three from lj and most recently the delightful SA).

It's been the year of Not Quite Such A Good Result As I'd Like; a B in a public exam is a first for me, though luckily it came at the half-way stage and next year I'll have a reasonable chance of fixing it and coming out of school with my straight-A record unblemished.

It's been the year of Studying Greeks and Romans At Home; the first part of next year is going to (hopefully) continue this trend.

It's been the year of Applying To University; doing open days and a UCAS form, and making plans to take a gap year and suchlike.

And, of course, it's been (another) year of New Fandoms and New Canon, and Shows Ending, As They Do; Angel, Firefly, Smallville, Stargate, The West Wing, etc. Not to mention the most important event of the year: new Hitchhiker's Guide episodes!

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I'm ending the year with a bout of Ramsay Hunt syndrome that has left me with facial paralysis (Bell's Palsy) on the left half of my face.

Oh my god! Megan, I had no idea. How awful for you. I really hope you can make a quick and full recovery.

Deb, I'm way behind in Bitches, so I'm posting this here instead: thank you so much for the beautiful ornaments! They arrived in Friday's mail. I love them! Thank you.

With luck, my gift will be going out tomorrow, priority. I was felled by a nasty stomach bug this weekend, so I wasn't able to do any of the things I needed to do yesterday.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

A note to my Secret Santee (who, of course, doesn't know that s/he is that, but will eventually):

I'm putting together the second of your two gift packages today. I'm hoping to get it out priority today; if it arrives after Xmas, sorry 'bout that, but the gifts will still be there.

The second of the two is coming from somewhere else and may get there before the first one does, and it likely won't have my name on it. So if I (hopefully) see a mad SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!, I'll identify myself.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I'm not sure if I should be worried about my package to my giftee. I sent it priority mail last Monday. I have not seen a note that this person would be out of town. I hope all is well.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I have been wondering the same thing about my gift, Lexine, since I mailed mine priority on Monday as well.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

And mine. It was supposed to be there by last Friday. Now I'm nervous.

Our wings are not tired.

I dropped mine today, but I forgot to include a note telling my santee how delighted I was that I was their seekrit santa. Remind me to do so later in the week when it is actually delivered.

edit to note I shipped part 2 today, part 1 was sent directly and should be rec'd momentarily

Always Anti-fascist!

I'm just a little, well, primitive, about the mail. Sometimes it feels like the stuff could end up in Pylea as easily as my house. Even though, in actual fact, I've only had a few items get lost. I think it just blows my mind to think about the planes and trucks and all the people's hands... I can be such a *simple* person.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Wheee!!!! I got a package today from my sekrit santa! It came from Texas and I only know a couple Buffistae from TX, so I think I know who it is. Thank you! I got a really funny T-shirt that has semophore flags on it and then under it says "Keep clear of me, I am maneuvering with difficulty." Heh, that I do when I'm sailing, I'm just a duffer. I can't wait to wear it the next time I go sailing with my dad. Again, thank you so much!
