I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I'd mentioned specifically the other day, Bear Mountain, because I know it's local (and I had just had a great one the night before). But Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is some good shit, and I think pretty accessible for all sorts of beer preferences. Also local, right?

Alternatively, I'd say just ask that they lean towards local microbrews rather than the Miller/Heineken class.

I mean, I know a lot of people like the Miller/Bud/Heineken class, and that's cool. That's why ever bar generally stocks such lager styles! But an alternative would sure be neat, if possible.

Maybe Deb could ask Lilibeth if she could recommend some good ones.

Lilibeth sounds like she knows her stuff, I'm sure this would be a great way to go about it.

NOTE: I'm trying to be specific because I am hoping it's helpful to Deb, but the last think I want to do is sound totally picky and demanding and be overwhelming.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

I'm not a beer drinker but local microbrews would be Anchor Steam, Pyramid, Pacific Coast Brewery...and more. (BTW - they don't bottle it but Pacific Coast makes the rockin'est root beer I've ever tasted. You can only get it at the brewpub in Oakland, more's the pity.)

eta: Also just trying to be helpful. As I don't drink beer, I have no dog in this...thing.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I'm a big fan of Sierra (and it should be easily available), and I'm sure they'll have some of the Bud/Heineken ilk. So I'd say at least that three, but just let her know that more than just the nationals would be appreciated.

Some ideas for local brews. I know one of the better microbreweries I went to was in Sonoma, so it could be it's mentioned in this article. I was there over 7 years ago, so I don't remember which one it might have been.

See, that's why I say it's cool! I'm honestly not trying to pick on anyone's preferences here.

So, probably 2 of the majors, a regular and a light. A microbrew IPA and then, maybe, something a little darker, similar to a Newcastle Brown Ale but local? That sounds like a decent variety to me.

Our wings are not tired

I used to drink a lot of Pyramid when I lived in Spokane. The Apricot Ale and their Hefewiezen are both pretty good.

From an ease-of-Deb pv, I think the point to get across is that we want something beyond the usuals, so that it's not only those available, and let Lilibeth make the call, rather than asking for specifics. I'm cool with chancing it and expecting to find something new.

(no hit on Bud, Miller, Heineken, I'm drinking a Bud right now AIFG.)

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

I know it would be hard for Tom and myself to only have prom choices of hard booze and wine

No worries - they carry a selection of beers, and I think it's a pretty broad range. But noting all of the above, and Ill get us a good span of brews, no worries.

I probably won't hear from her before Friday in any case; her days off are - weirdly - Thursday and Sunday.
