Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

By the looks of it, we'll need a new Tech thread in a few months. I propose:

Buffistatechnology 11, going on 100.

OK, that'll probably be too confusing. But it just popped into my head so I had to send it out over the internets.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

P-C, did you get your Outlook issue fixed? This may be very obvious, but did you enable pop access on your gmail acct? That is the main reason why most people I know can't download their email via pop using outlook.

I did do that!

Status: POP is enabled for all mail that has arrived since 3/20/05

So I have no bleeding clue what's going on.

Also, my gmail account gets an impressive amount of spam given that I've never given out the address anywhere.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

I've had the same issue. Only place I have it listed is here. The spam filter catches it all, but still annoying.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Tommyrot, I have a MaGlobe account that I use about twice a year or so, less so now that wireless access is a lot more common. I can't offhand remember how much it costs, but it's quite reasonable measured by my innate cheapitude.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

P-C,

Okay, you may want to change your pop access to "everything that comes from now on" just to see if anything is getting through. That's a lot of email and sometimes (IME) the gmail pipe can't handle it all at once.

Well, my e-mail currently only has about seven e-mails in it, so...I don't think that's the issue exactly. It won't even connect to the server! I'll try, though.

Anyone remember the name of Gud's IP detection program? It's for Linux (Gnome, I think) and he keeps it at Freshmeet or somesuch....

Want Faster Data Transfer? WiFi Speed Spray™ to the rescue!

This revolutionary product is guaranteed to enhance the transfer of computer data through the air. You'll be amazed!

Do you live in a polluted environment such as Los Angeles? If so, you've probably experienced the heartbreak of data transfer slow-down. WiFi Speed Spray™ can overcome the effects of pollution, increase fidelity, and provide you with the fastest wireless data transfer possible. Approved by the FCC, and 802.11b compliant! Compatible with Windows and most versions of Linux.

It's a scientific fact. Radio waves become sluggish under a variety of common environmental conditions. Besides air pollution, radio waves slow down in noisy environments, at night, and in "high emission" areas such as computer rooms, offices that use fluorescent lighting, and even in the kitchen (those pesky microwave ovens are to blame!).

WiFi Speed Spray™ is designed to eliminate these harsh conditions selectively. Only the radio wave path is affected. There are no side-effects*.

The patented formula in WiFi Speed Spray™ is the result of years of scientific research and testing. Simply spray the area around your computer. Usually five or six sprays is all it takes. As your computer sends data, each bit also carries hundreds of invisible WiFi Speed Spray™ "scrubbing" molecules. It works at the speed of light. and even penetrates lead walls (not even Superman can do that!). Within .0025 seconds, the entire path between you and the receiver is cleaned, scrubbed, polished, and sanitized. You'll notice the improvement immediately as your productivity soars!.

Our wings are not tired

I'm waiting for the PC that I keep around to just burst into flames. It's a little 3.0 GHz Celeron and it is currently pulling multiple shows off of our two Tivos, while also converting files to be ready for my iPod, and on top of that preparing mapsets in my Garmin software so that they can be uploaded to the eTrex GPS. The CPU has been pegged at 100% for at least 36 hours now. It's either going to combust, or give me the finger.

Awwww, the little PC that could.
