Okay, is anyone having trouble with Itunes Music Store and/or ipodder?
I just went to the Ubuntu site to download the distro, and they say
"Ubuntu" is an ancient African word, meaning "humanity to others".
Oy. That's so specific. Even less specific than "ancient European word" would be.
Still downloading the distro, but I'm going to be looking at them funny.
The music store isn't giving me any problems, LeN.
Bullshitty naming aside, what drew you to Ubuntu? (I'm still on Fedora, which I neither love nor hate enough to bother with a whole reinstallation.)
OTOH, I'm playing around with switching from Gnome to KDE (or rather, I will be as soon as yum
gets off its damn ass).
Anyone out there use it? Any favorite apps or tips?
Gud, really. And then a meatspace geek got me excited about the idea of having Linux in-house again. So, I'll download, I'll go to Fry's and get a new big HD and give it a go.
Gotcha. Incidentally, the kubuntu FAQ claims that the name is Bemba (which is from Zambia, and that's all I know about it).

ffmpegx, Mac the Ripper, and Handbrake all agree that there is only one episode on this DVD.
I think the easiest way to copy this is just going to be to take it to work with me. (Where I have a DVD player hooked up to a FCP system, and nothing whatsoever to do tomorrow.)
Actually, I'm using SUSE now, but I rather like Ubuntu as well. I liked Gnome better at first, but after trying both KDE and Gnome I eventually started liking KDE better. However Kubuntu seemed a little buggy (unlike Ubuntu), so that pushed me toward SUSE.
Okay, I still can't access the itunes music store and I'm having problems with ipodder. Anyone have any idea what's going on? Wireless router here. I've unplugged the dang thing and reinstalled itunes to no avail.
