All is well that ends in pizza.

After the iPod Photo came out, I played around with Photoshop and made up this:

iPod Ultimate.

There are also rumors going around about an Apple-branded cell phone.

the Treo, which is smaller than the Sidekick I was also carrying.

Really? That seems like it isn't so, but I suspect it's just because the screen on the Treo is bigger.

Or at least looks bigger.

What is a good choice of free graphic program for the person with no artistic talent? Ideally can do easy transformation of a drawing into a transparent gif, the ability to combine multiple graphics into a single montage or whatever you call it, some hue corrrection ability, and some smoothing and error correction abilities. In other words photoshop lite (or whatever they call the $30 version of photoshop these days) except for free. Anything like that out there? Anything close?

Set out to make Christmas cards, and found out my old version of photoshop won't install on my new machine.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think there's a Gimp for Windows, TB.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Paint Shop Pro has a free 30 day trial period. In the old days, you could continue to use it well beyond the trial period, but I don't think so anymore. It's actually a pretty sophisticated program, closer to Photoshop than Photoshop Lite.

Also, there's the open source program The Gimp. It's available for Windows, Linux and the Mac, but the Mac version requires The X Windowing System (X11 or Xfree 86) installed. It's very powerful and (I think) not as easy to use as Paint Shop Pro.
