Jayne: Yeah, that was some pretty risky sittin' you did there. Wash: That's right, of course, 'cause they wouldn't arrest me if we got boarded, I'm just the pilot. I can always say I was flying the ship by accident.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My phone is already a camera. I don't need my PDA to be either, but the one I have is getting flakey.

Play with ND's new one for a while and you might change your mind. It's pretty darn cool.

No, I've played with them before. And I have a Blackberry. Unless you can make my phone as small as my Ericsson T616, the camera anywhere near as good as my Kodak camera, plus rolling in a large screen with very few moving parts, I'm good.

Maybe next year.

Yeah, the Treo is a touch on the large size for a phone. Not too much so, but just a touch.

When I was in Chicago, in a pathetic display of geekery, I took out my Treo, my iPod and my digital camera, and placed them next to each other. They were all approximately the same size.

My phone is wee-er than my iPod, and it better stay that way. My digital camera is bigger, and I'm kinda sad about that, but I really like it, so I'll live.

So is the analysis of the market that convergence is it? Is it high level convergence? Now that Sony's out of the market, is it only Palm hardware on the Palm OS?

My digital camera is a bit of a big one, but I love the picture quality, even for a 2 Megapixel one. I was using a T616 for my phone, but now the Treo, which is smaller than the Sidekick I was also carrying.

My iPod is not on my person as often, and it's the bigger 30 GB model, not the slim 10 or 20GB.

There are a couple of other licensees of Palm OS, but not any other major players.

There are rumors that PalmOne (the hardware company) is going to make Windows CE at least an option on some of their products.

There are also rumors that Palm Source (the software company) will be moving to a Linux-based kernel.

I did hear that. It made me dizzy.

Hmm. I think I'd have to kill myself if I got a WinCe device. But how are they? Still competing in PDA? Is the PDA market going to disappear into smartening other devices?

I lied about convergence. I just discovered he Tungsten T5 can also be used as a USB drive. I can't explain why I love that so.

Well, possibly because I just lost my 1GB flash drive.
