This column about iSight made me think of Scola: [link]

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

It's the 21st Century, damnit! We're all supposed to have video phones!

I got mine. I'm waiting for everyone else to get theirs.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Question about script errors - I need to access my bank account online, and I keep getting an error. I've made sure that active scripting is allowed, but I can't get the page to come up. It says [Line 8 - Character 1 - 'parent.frames.catchall.location' is null or not an object. - Code 0 - URL htpps://www.charteroneonline.com/lp.asp]

I don't have this problem at home (Firefox) - the problem is definitely with me, not them. Ideas?

I can't get on board with iSight, because it would require that both I and my apartment must be clean(ish) and presentable. And, frankly, neither happens too often, and almost NEVER at the same time.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It requires too much clothing, or too careful framing.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

We have iSight in our office, but it's barely used. Without a separate microphone (which we don't have), it's useless for video conferencing because you both just end up smiling at each other saying "What? I can't hear you..."

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

There's a LONG discussion of why video phones don't work in Infinite Jest. I think it came down to the whole being forced to look presentable angle, except there was something about masks. Anyway.

I don't understand why every time I restart my work computer, IE returns to an *old* list of visited sites under the address bar. And so I can't get rid of those misspelled sites that autocomplete so helpfully keeps bringing up.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Okay, here's my question: should I install Service Pack 2 on my Windows XP machine? I haven't yet.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Definitely. Major security improvements in SP2 (not to say that they don't have a ways to go yet). Unless you're worried about compatability issues with some of your software. But those have pretty much all been discovered now (I think) so you should be able to find out if there'd be any potential problems.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I have been seriously worried about compatibility issues. But looks like I'll be updating the software then.
