I totally want one... except I just bought my Cube for about the same $. The Cube, while not as cute, looks cooler IMHO. Mine has far more RAM and HD space, but a much slower G4 processor (450 Mhz as opposed to 1.42GHz).
Buyers are going to feel like they're being nickeled and dimed, which is something I often feel when I'm dealing with Apple.
Yup.
iPod shuffle notes:
- Music capacity is based on 4 minutes per song and 128Kbps AAC encoding.
- Do not eat iPod shuffle.
- Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles and may eventually need to be replaced. Battery life and number of charge cycles vary by use and settings. See www.apple.com/batteries for more information.
- Some computers require either the optional iPod shuffle Dock or a USB cable extender (sold separately).

Well, I think the idea is that someone who has an iPod and a PC will want to try a Mac out at that price. So they can use their existing monitor. If they don't have an extra keyboard and mouse they could buy something cheap. So I don't think the lack of monitor, keyboard and mouse is going to be an issue for most buyers.
eta: Plus, having both VGA and DVI output is cool at that price....
Do not eat iPod shuffle.
Well, SCREW that.
Unsurprisingly, the Apple Store site is exceedingly sloooooooooooow to load. Heh.
It's cheap, but they're selling it without a monitor, keyboard and mouse.
Sans monitor is par for the course with Apple, though. (And personally, I prefer non-Mac keyboards and mice anyhow, so that works out great.)
Would it use the standard monitors/etc., or would you have to get Mac drivers? Or am I way behind the curve on equipment compatibility?
Would it use the standard monitors/etc.
Yeah. The standard VGA monitor (which 99% are) or the new DVI (digital video) standard, that most better LCD monitors use....
eta:
Oh, and any standard USB keyboard and mouse....
