Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

You can't use an AT-style keyboard, but any USB keyboard will work.
Similarly, a serial mouse is not supported, but any USB mouse will work.
Any monitor will work.
Connie, you're way behind the curve (which I mean in the nicest possible way). Pretty much any USB keyboard and mouse will plug into a recent Mac and be ready to go.
any standard USB keyboard and mouse....
t manages not to snicker too cynically Put me in the "I'll have to get one of those someday" column.
Any standard keyboard is fine, but then you'd have to guess which special function keys (option, command, and apple) are which, right?
(Looks at the Apple page)
So. Cute! I want a mini. I kinda-sorta want one of the iPod shuffles, but really, I have no need for one.
Heh. Just as I was reading this thread and going to the Apple page, Pete called me to burble about the new Mac stuff.

They map to the keys in the same positions:
ctrl -> ctrl
windows logo doohicky -> opt
alt -> cmd (the same thing as apple).
It's harder to switch back and forth between OSes and have to remember that Windoze commands mostly use the outermost key and Mac commands use the innermost one, than to guess which way the keyboard mapping goes.
-- signed, hits Alt-Whatever all the damn time
I guess my point is that trying to use a standard keyboard on a Mac could be annoying, especially for people who aren't all that computer savvy. Would it kill them to bundle a keyboard and mouse with it?
I'm thinking a Mac Mini in the living room hooked up as a component on a nice 42" Plasma Display will rock.
I'm going to have a work on making this a reality. It's the perfect size and look to sit nicely in the living room entertainment system.
Dude. Maxing out the RAM on this thing doubles the price. That ain't right.
