Ausiello is now reporting that the Buffy alum is no longer in the running for the role. Too bad.

Damn! Who was it, then? Teasing bastards.
That's too bad. Did somebody from "Remember the Titans" get the role?
Here's what Ausiello says:
It appears Linda Cardellini won't be playing doctor with that Buffy alum after all.
The Whedonverse vet vying for the role of the new resident nurse and love interest to Cardellini's Sam on ER is no longer in the running, per a source close to the negotiations. An offer is now out to a certain acting (cough) titan who shall remain nameless until the deal is signed.
The waiting is always the hardest part.
I didn't look closely at the rest of the page, so I can't tell you if you'll be spoiled or not if you go there, but I copied the information from here: [link]
Oops, clicked on this instead of Boxed Set.
From Ausiello -- WARNING, there are big Gilmore Girls spoilers on that page before the E.R. item. [link]
It's official: Kip Pardue has been cast as the new resident nurse and love interest to Linda Cardellini's Sam on ER, sources confirm. He's slated to debut on Nov. 30.
For those playing at home, the "acting titan" clue I dropped was a nod to Pardue's role in Remember the Titans. Congrats to all the winners!
Bonus points go to anyone who can correctly ID the Buffy alum who was originally in talks to play the part. If you ask nicely, maybe I'll give you a clue in this week's Ask Ausiello. Aren't these games fun?
I don't know what the itals are all about there -- if they're there as clues, and not just there for emphasis, I'm lost.
Well, Nathan Fillion auditioned for the role of Angel, but didn't get it. I'm not sure about any of the other male leads. Between Giles and Xander, I'm not sure who else might have been considered for those parts.
But, I may be limiting myself by thinking of just season 1 when he says originally. Which sounds like "from the beginning" to me. So, I'm not even thinking later seasons.
Alan Tudyk is going to be in Next Week's c.s.i.

I knew it! Oh, well, I wasn't gonna watch it just for him anyway.
