Jack Bauer has 24 hours to save the world. (Or, in the case of the upcoming season, his own ass.)
That's pretty much all you need to know.

I was just wondering if there was a lot of back story that follows the show from season to season or if every season is more of a complete story.
Every season is pretty much a complete story. They set it up fairly well so that you can figure out who's who and what's going on quickly. This season might be slightly different because at the end of last season, Jack was on a slow boat to China. The Chinese government took him because he broke into their embassy two seasons ago.
But I'm sure they'll just do some giant "Previously" to catch everyone up.
sj, I think we jumped in, in season 3 of "24" and were just fine. You may later want to go back and watch the old seasons, but you don't need to.
That SGA spoiler totally made my day. Awesome.
Thanks for the information. 24 is one of those shows I always thought I should watch but haven't, but I would watch almost anything Peter MacNichol is in.
Smallville casting news found at TWOP:
Yours truly just received a truly Super tip that's so good I'm not waiting for tomorrow's Ask Ausiello to report it. Aaron Ashmore — aka Veronica Mars' former beau, Troy Vandegraff — has been cast as Jimmy Olsen on Smallville! Amazing, right? Well, the news gets better.
Late to the party: the SGA casting spoiler rocks very, very hard!
Zentertainment reports that Wayne Palmer (Principal McHottie) will be the president on the next season of 24. Which sounds really strange.
But pretty.
Very Pretty.
Did the McX predate GA? Wasn't it just Principal Hottie at the time, or am I making stuff up again?
