So, I'm guessing William Mapother must be a relative of Tom Cruise. IMDb lists him a lot of his movies. And Mapother is Cruise's real last name. 'Cause I was thinking there was a family resemblence more than NF-lite.

Can't wait. Although not reading the tv guide summary.
I watched "Out of Gas" over the weekend and had this OMG Bester is Sawyer! Thing -- but then I saw the credits and even though there is a fairly remarkable resemblence, Bester is not Sawyer, alas.
You had me worried for a moment there, sumi. I was thinking back to Bester, weighing the similarities and differences, and then I finished reading your post.
Well, Sawyer was on Angel. (I need to re-watch "City of" to see if I can find him.)
he's in the very beginning, sumi. he's one of the first vampires we see get killed.
So I checked epguides and Alias starts January 5th with a two-parter called "Authorized Personnel Only". Ep. 3 is called "The Awful Truth".
Meanwhile over on Fox, it looks as though 24 starts with a two parter on Sunday January 9 and has its third episode the very next day -- Monday the 10th. And continues on Mondays. (For right now.)
This day starts at 7 AM.
I am currently relieved. I hope that they keep to this schedule!
Ep. 3 is called "The Awful Truth"
Me thinks Alias might be better served calling the episode "The Fleeting Truth"
Bwah!
I think they've had previous episodes with very similar titles.
