Sam Heughan cast as Jamie Fraser on Outlander.
Game of Thrones: Mark Gatiss has been cast. Some speculation on who here.

"I Think I'm Gonna Like it Here" "Devil May Care"

Oh dear: [link]
I love the guy to pieces, but the only actors in Man of Steel who wouldn't have blown him off the screen in comparison were the ones who played General Swanwick's googly-eyed assistant and that humongous silent Kryptonian soldier.
It's a shame he wasn't up to play against Routh. I think they could have failed cutely together. Although I've not seen Man Of Steel, I haven't heard anything to make me doubt Cavill's talent. It just doesn't feel like a theatre-worthy story for me.
Cavill's good enough that if he lands the right project, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get an Oscar nomination sometime in the next 10 years. And just about all the other major roles were filled by actors who've already been nominated at least once.
I've seen Hoechlin in other things where he's considerably better when not playing a character that's diametrically opposed to his own personality. But Batman is cut from the same intense-loner-with-traumatizing-past cloth, and much better actors than he have failed miserably in the role. About the only silver linings I can see are (1) his voice is high enough I doubt he could do that ridiculous growly voice that Bale used, and (2) shirtless training montage.
Mace Tyrell (GoT) has been cast.
