There's rampant speculation that it's going to be for Prentiss's funeral. I can't think of any other reason that would have her coming back.

I know CBS had offered to extend her contract to include all of the episodes on the back half of the season and I think an option for next season, but she was in the midst of looking at pilots and said "thanks, but no thanks."
That was the last I heard.
