I said I'm sorry. I've made mistakes, but fear was never one of them.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Thumbs up, for the most part. Weir bores me to tears, so the "will she get fired or not" B-plot is kind of tiresome (she keeps her job in the end).

But there's some good wraith stuff, and Ronin + Rodney = Adorably Funny, so that's all good. Overall I liked it more than the SG1 premiere, which needed everyone to lighten up by a factor of a LOT.

Our wings are not tired.

Weir being fired would work for me. A dose of funny is a good thing in the SGs. OK, I'm ready for the start already. Also, Mmmm Ronin.

New Doctor Who companion announced:

I'm going to have to eat my words, though it turns out she's not playing the recently deceased character after all.

Art Crawl!!!

Gina Torres is playing Ronan's dead wife on SGA this season. Don't know how big a part it is - not very, I'm guessing because the wife is dead and because GT has a regular role on one of Fox's new shows.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Whoa, we were just speculating (unspoiled) about her as a possibility over on TwoP. I have to say though, casting Gina makes me really skeptical about Ronon being the one to survive the Wraith attack.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Hey, give Gina some credit for being able to act, now.

Oh, she's got more acting talent than the entire regular cast combined. But I've never seen her in anything where she wasn't kickass capable—not sure if I'll be able to get past that regardless of how she plays the part.

Matrix Reloaded?

And her new fall pilot, sadly. She plays a cop, but she's one of the least effective cops I've ever seen on TV. She caves to the male lead on every case.

I've seen her be "normal" in 24, the Matrix sequels, and I think The Guardian, although I'm not sure. Some series I don't really watch.

Oh, I'd forgotten that I saw her in the Matrix sequels. I think those scenes must have been accidentally repressed in my memory along with the 25 minute slo-mo the-machines-are-coming-to-kill-us-but-that-won't-stop-the-rave-we-had-planned sequence.
