Oh, she's got more acting talent than the entire regular cast combined. But I've never seen her in anything where she wasn't kickass capable—not sure if I'll be able to get past that regardless of how she plays the part.

But I've never seen her in anything where she wasn't kickass capable
Matrix Reloaded?
And her new fall pilot, sadly. She plays a cop, but she's one of the least effective cops I've ever seen on TV. She caves to the male lead on every case.
I've never seen her in anything where she wasn't kickass capable
I've seen her be "normal" in 24, the Matrix sequels, and I think The Guardian, although I'm not sure. Some series I don't really watch.
Oh, I'd forgotten that I saw her in the Matrix sequels. I think those scenes must have been accidentally repressed in my memory along with the 25 minute slo-mo the-machines-are-coming-to-kill-us-but-that-won't-stop-the-rave-we-had-planned sequence.
The rest of that Smallville spoiler:
Yours truly just received a truly Super tip that's so good I'm not waiting for tomorrow's Ask Ausiello to report it. Aaron Ashmore — aka Veronica Mars' former beau, Troy Vandegraff — has been cast as Jimmy Olsen on Smallville! Amazing, right? Well, the news gets better. My Super mole confirms that Jimmy is being groomed as a love interest for Chloe! I've got another eather-shattering Smallville scoop, but that one I am saving for AA. (Hint: It's really good.)
So, predictable. (Well, I may only think so because they've been speculating about Jimmy/Chloe for weeks at the TWOP Smallville spoilers thread.)
I forgot to mention it before, but Greg Germann leaves Eureka after the pilot. He gets replaced by a younger model, the better to be the third prong in a love triangle between Colin and the DOD woman whose name I can't remember because I didn't have time to rewatch last night. The new character is her ex-husband.
Is this a "we've secretly switched X for Greg Germann - let's see if anyone notices" or does he leave the show as a plot point?
No, the new guy is a different character. The press kit didn't include the second ep, so I don't know exactly how Germann gets fired.

Well, nuts. I like Germann.
