Lost: OMGWTF POLAR BEAR

[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

Because books.

I LOVED the polar bears on the orientation film!

I squeed when I saw them.

I have this fear of a rewrite of Jin ala Alias where Jin always understood everything.

Let's hope that isn't the case.

Looooved Hurley seeing the food pantry.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Can you guys clarify something -- what was the name of the guy that took Desmond down the hatch?

Because books.

I think it was Kelvin. Calvin? One or the other.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

I heard Kelvin too. But it could have been Calvin, or Kevin maybe.

[eta: Calvin would probably make the most sense, as it's the most matchy with the Locke/Rousseau motif.]

That's what I thought -- Calvin.

Thanks!

There is considerable overlap between the intelligence of the smartest bears and the dumbest tourists.

Kelvin fits with the "Man of Science" theme, though. Lord Kelvin. And I definitely heard Kelvin, not Calvin. But it's possible it was just Desmond's accent.

Sometimes evil drives a minivan.

FWIW, the closed captioning said Kelvin.

Yeah, but close captioning has been wrong on this show before.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

That's why I'm thinking it's an experiment on human behavior. Tell someone it's the "end of the world" and they'll tolerate the most outrageous bullshit.

If someone ever hooks me up to this sort of thing, kiss all your asses goodbye... because even if I devoutly believed what I'd been told it would take about 2 nights of interrupted sleep for me to decide "Screw it! If the world blows up, at least I'll be asleep when it happens."

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I'm with Matt. I'd rather be exploded than spend the rest of my life pushing a button every 108 minutes. Especially without knowing what it was supposed to stop happening.
