My feeling was that both Jin and SunDaddy believed that Sun was completely ignorant of where her money came from.
Lost: OMGWTF POLAR BEAR
[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
I'm beginning to formulate an evile theory that the Real!Locke was killed by the monster, and what we've been seeing for the past few episodes is Sockpuppet!Locke. Mwah-hah-hah.
OMG, he's really Ethan Rayne. It all makes sense!
Theo, that's an interesting theory. I'm not sure it applies to Locke, but maybe it applies to someone else?
BTW, I'm convinced that Locke is *this close* to losing his shit Apocalypse Now style. If I see him doing a Marlon Brando, that's gonna be IT.
Or did he not know what the business really was?
I also thought that Jin didn't know exactly what he was getting himself into, and once he found out, he couldn't get out.
Or will the Professor Sayid set up an aqueduct system to carry water to the beach?
Heh. I saw some bamboo in some scene (with Michael, I think) and thought "Could they make pipes out of that and bring water to the beach?" 'Cuz that's the kind of freak I am.
He told Charlie he had to give something up and the island would give him something. We know what the island gave Locke, what did Locke give the island?
Maybe Locke had to give up any hope of ever leaving the island (in his mind or from his encounter with the monster) since his magic recovery wouldn't travel with him if he did?
what did Locke give the island?
His service and loyalty?
SunDaddy
Heh.
I got a vibe of "Oh, geez, now we'll never get out from under his [generic rich and powerful megalomaniacal] controlling thumb," from Sun when Jin said he was going to work for her father. In retrospect, I'm not sure whether she knew about his business or not. Well, certainly after Jin came home all bloody and probably before that (after they were married) she had suspicions. But, for whatever reason, they both seemed innocent of it to me in that first flashback.
I think Locke gave his trust to the island.
But when Jin pulled out the huge diamond after just finishing agreeing to work with Pops, Sun must have known it was going to take more than 2 years of 40 hours/week labor to cover that.
