Just read an interesting tidbit of info on the ABC message boards. The lottery announcer lady is apparently one of the ladies that Sawyer was with in one of his flashback episodes.
Also somebody suggested this might have something to do with the numbers. Interesting theory but I'm not sure I buy into it myself.

So, 4 is the number often referred to on the show. Locke got paralyzed 4 years ago. And, and... something else happened to somebody else 4 years ago that I cannot remember right now.
8 and 15 go together, as 815 is the flight number and the number on Kate's safe deposit box and... something else I forget again.
