How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

They do seem to have been oddly passive for having been there for 6 days. I think I would have been setting up a shelter, figuring out what plants could be eaten... all kinds of things they don't seem to be doing.

And yup, what Sean said, the re-runs thing.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I'm just making a point to bring along my Worst Case Scenario Handbook whenever I fly. Just in case.

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

I've noticed this too, and I'm wondering if this will tie in to everything going down on the island.

Locke organizing the hunt was the first real survivalist move they've made.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I think the lack of doing anything like setting up shelter (other than the medical "tent') and being disorganized may be a plot device, so that Jack could come in at the end of the last ep and be all leaderly.

Sayid did try, at one point, to get people organized, asking people to divide into three groups, for water, electronics and food searching, but that seems to have been dropped.

Keep it in a baggie taped to your body...

The evil is this way?

They do seem to have been oddly passive for having been there for 6 days.

They've been waiting to be rescued. We've been seeing the most knowledgeable of the survivors (Kate, Jack, Locke, Charlie, Sayid, etc.). Most of others don't seem to know or realize how much trouble they're in.

I think Jack became the leader the instant he made the decision to use his voice of command to get things done.

Most people don't have it. The ability to process what needs to be done, and to direct others with that exact tone that makes them go.

Jack has it, and I get the feeling his father had pretty much convinced him he didn't.

Kate has it too, but again, didn't know it.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

voice of command.

So, so, so true. You learn this quickly in the military, who's got it and who doesn't. It can be used on groups, or individuals. We've seen it used on both groups and individuals by Jack and Kate. We've seen it used on individuals by Jin. He can't use it on groups, because of the language barrier, but his individual use of the VoC comes out of the cultural role of the sexes, not from true command. He's actually just a bully. I think one of the things we're going to see is how Sun learns to subvert the individual use of it and possibly gain her own. Also, Boone would like to have it, but doesn't. Locke has it, but doesn't really want to have to use it, as Jack didn't, but realizes he must.

Okay, overanalyzed that to death.

If I only had a brain...

I use mine on children, mostly.
