Art Crawl!!!

Maybe Sawyer didn't take his pants off because he's going commando.

Also:

IOW, his jealousy at the end of last night's ep wasn't so much sexual jealousy as it was jealousy over the fact that the island's resident smart guy was relying on Shannon for help on an important project instead of him.

You make alot of sense there Anne.

I was wondering where the "man I love" that Kate killed was her father too. Also -- guessing that Ranger!Daddy taught her the gun skills too.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I would think "argent" meant silver rather than money because I don't know French at all, just the periodic table.

Do the french lyrics for "La Mer" signify anything relevant to the island? I can find the lyrics in French, but not a translation and I have no French, so...

Nothing that jumps out at me. I'd translate, but everytime I try to do that with lyrics it comes out wrong like a wrong thing.

What is even happening?

I don't know why, but I read "man I love" and "man I killed" as a misdirect, of one kind or another, and so because this:

I got the impression that she's basically a good person who needed to commit a crime because of something sentimental and possibly twee.
...is what I suspect, a child seemed a good substitute for whatever she is lying about. She's a lying liar telling lies, and I'm so afraid it's going to end up that she's lying about something horribly sympathetic. I blame Memorex!Giles.

I loved the Blue Lagoon opening, complete with Fantasy Island-type music. Because: (1) Sawyer hot. Sawyer SO HOTT. (2) All I could think was "You're stranded on the Island of Fucked-Upped-ness -- this idyllic swim is going to have a nasty side."

Sawyer squicks me so freaking badly, I can't even see the pretty. I know there's pretty if I look at pictures of the actor, but the character just makes me cringe all the time. Last night, I finally figured out why (I am not one who has to watch from the hall too often). He is just too close to my own soul sucking demon of yore, for me to enjoy that he's a hot, manipulative redneck. My soul sucking demon was not a redneck, as he lived in one of the hearts of Old Yankee Land, but that's only a matter of geography.

In a moment of marital amusement, we were watching last night, and Sawyer did something particularly assholish, and my dh yelled out the name of one of his own brothers, as I yelled out soul sucking demon's name.

Well, there are certainly worse times you could do that...

Fair enough. If nothing jumps out, there probably isn't anything.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Maybe Sawyer didn't take his pants off because he's going commando.

Well, he had that moment with Kate before, in which he strutted out of the ocean buck-naked like some she-male Aphrodite, cocky as he pleases. I doubt he had an attack of bashfulness here. I'm not sure *why* he didn't take his pants off. Wet jeans are nasty-uncomfortable.

I hope they won't go all Flowers in the Attic with Boone and Shannon, 'cause that's way predictable by now. Although Boone sure is projecting the creepy vibe.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Wet jeans are nasty-uncomfortable.

I was thinking the same thing.

House of Usher, baby.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Less likely to pick up leeches in new places while wearing jeans?

Okay, I searched a bit on French sites and found this translation. There is some poetic license but it is basically sound:

The sea
Dances beyond
The shores and lighted bays
With silver on its waves
The sea
Still glitters along
As the rain falls

The sea
Welcomes the sun
And fools
Billowing home
You’d think they’re angels, but no!
You see
It’s nothing but foam
That will soon go

Behold
By the lagoon
A wet blanket of reeds
Behold
Birds flying home
To those rusty “maisons”

The sea
Eternal nest
Of shores and lighted bays
So with a song of love
The sea
Will be my heart’s cove
Through eternity

You can find the side by side comparaison with the original French, this translation, and the English version here (scroll down to the post of 6/1/2004: Charles Trenet: La Mer en anglais

ETA line breaks and that I just noticed that the next post on that site also complains about "My Way".
