The Buffista Book Club: the Harry Potter iteration
This thread is a focused discussion group. Please see the first post below for the current topic and upcoming book discussions. While natter will inevitably happen, we encourage you to treat this like a virtual book club and try to keep your posts in that spirit.
By consensus, this thread is reopened specifically to discuss Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It will be closed again once that discussion has run its course.
***SPOILER ALERT***
they were huddled with their child in the last chapter...but by rights, they should have been sent to Azkaban.
Azkaban's probably a much nicer place now that the Dementors aren't in control anymore. At least, I'd assume they're not, given that they went over to Voldemort's side.

Oh, I remember that. I just assumed they would be sent to prison (after the battle), except for Draco.

Yeah. That was left unclear, although I have a gut feeling Lucius found some way to weasel out of it. Then he became the CEO for Halliburton, and named himself Vice President!
Also, was Malfoy attending Hogwarts (I think not based on the capture/torture of Hermione and escape with Dobby's help part)? If not, how did he get there and get in in a timely manner?
When Narcissa let the Snatchers into the mansion with their captives, she told them her son was home from school for the Easter holiday.
Dana,
The dementors (as I understand it) go where the Ministry of Magic is. So they were still in control of Azkaban.
The Dementors had revolted at some point, I think, at least by the beginning of book 6 when they were flying around and breeding (ew). Given Dumbledore's objections to them, I don't think the new Ministry would put them back in control of the prison. It's inhumane.
Yes, I completely agree with you! Interesting. I wonder what they would do instead.
It wasn't until I reread the last few chapters last night that it sunk in for me why Voldemort was unable to kill or enact lasting spells on any of the good guys after Harry "died." Harry's act of sacrifice, even though it wasn't the ultimate one, gave the same protection to his friends that his mother's sacrifice did for him.
