By consensus, this thread is reopened specifically to discuss Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It will be closed again once that discussion has run its course.

Also, was Malfoy attending Hogwarts (I think not based on the capture/torture of Hermione and escape with Dobby's help part)? If not, how did he get there and get in in a timely manner?
When Narcissa let the Snatchers into the mansion with their captives, she told them her son was home from school for the Easter holiday.
Dana,
The dementors (as I understand it) go where the Ministry of Magic is. So they were still in control of Azkaban.
The Dementors had revolted at some point, I think, at least by the beginning of book 6 when they were flying around and breeding (ew). Given Dumbledore's objections to them, I don't think the new Ministry would put them back in control of the prison. It's inhumane.
Yes, I completely agree with you! Interesting. I wonder what they would do instead.
It wasn't until I reread the last few chapters last night that it sunk in for me why Voldemort was unable to kill or enact lasting spells on any of the good guys after Harry "died." Harry's act of sacrifice, even though it wasn't the ultimate one, gave the same protection to his friends that his mother's sacrifice did for him.
Kathy - do you have access to The Bedchamber over at Checkmated.com?
Heh. There were a bunch of news stories about how some rabbis in Israel were upset that the release was on a Saturday, thus leading a bunch of stores that normally close on the Sabbath to remain open. One of the Jewish blogs gave a sample of headlines for these stories (Reuters: "Harry Potter's Israel launch pits wizard vs. rabbis." CNN: "Will Harry Potter's magic work in Israel?" PressTV Iran: "Harry Potter angers Zionist regime.") and is having a contest for "Come on, we can think of funnier headlines than that." [link]
Aimee, yes I do--do you need access?
