Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned
A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
NYT Movies page has a little side feature showing a slide show of various actors who were featured in films this year--the pictures are black and white and some of them are really beautifully shot. I particularly liked the photos of Kate Winslet, Clive Owen and the Joan Cusack.
If that's the same spread that was in the magazine last weekend my favorite is Javier Bardem.
I say Paul Bettany can do whatever he wants. And that includes silly popcorn movies with Kirsten Dunst in which he lounges against a doorframe wearing only a pair of low-slung sweatpants.
The new Hitchhiker's trailer is fabulous, not least because it finally clicked that Martin Freeman is in it! I kept hearing all the noise about Mos Def, but Tim from The Office is in it!
but Tim from The Office is in it!
I KNOW! How perfect is that? TimNDawn4evah!
When I heard that, I was instantly a bazillion times more excited for the movie than before. It's the best casting EVAH. (Maybe second to Alan Rickman as Marvin. I can't decide.)
Yeah, Alan Rickman was also in my trailer love. That voice!
So, my Hollywood bf, Dominic West? Out of the Bond running? It's ok, although he is babe enough, not really the right type.(I'd love to see him play McNulty for another few years, anyway.) But I would like to see him break out and be huge so y'all can appreciate my taste.
Erika, a friend just lent us season one of The Wire. We don't have HBO, so I only ever saw one episode while visiting my mom. Looking forward to watching all of them!
I only know of Dominic West from his cameo as Fred Casely in Chicago. He was good in the role, but I was biased against him--I would have preferred them to cast the guy who played the role on Broadway (he was a high school classmate of mine).
