I thought Faramir became more complex, not less
I'm not sure I agree with that, but my statement was referring to Sean's statement about the Ring treatment vis-a-vis those who can resist it in the book (Eldest, who is immune, and Faramir, who resists).
Faramir does feel (to me) like a bigger character in a sense in the movie because his screen time feels bigger, but he has tons of backstory depth in the book and isn't mostly a daddyissues duty martyr, which diminished him, in spite of Denham's charismatic performance, in my experience.
But perhaps we should talk about this over in Stinky Hobbits if folks want to carry on?

Yes, please.
And whom should I talk to to get a Groundhog Day thread?

You're not fooling anyone!
resists temptation to post this multiple times
Frank (nice numberslut, btw!), I addressed your question re: Uma in the LotR thread.
Dear heavens. I had no idea that Chris Rock would be hosting the Oscars.
This could be much fun!

This could be the best Oscars ever.
I'm still holding out for Kelsey Grammer. But Chris Rock has lots o' potential.
Wow...last I heard it was Robin Williams.
Chris Rock hosting the Oscars on HBO would be better. And a drinkin' encouraged policy like the Golden Globes, with cameras in the bar (unlike perhaps the GGs) even better.
Last night I zoned out on the couch and watched Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. While still nowhere near as fun as the books, I thought this movie was better than the first one.
1. Less screen time from Heather Matarazzo as the best friend. Both the character and the actress bug me.
2. Julie Andrews saying "SHUT. UP!"
3. Julie Andrews sings!
Really, that's about it. I give it three stars, just for Julie Andrews being so awesome. And then I completely cheesed out and got misty during the final scene.
